This is quite interesting. It’s a Coffee Imperial IPA from To øL(Mikkeller) and De Proef Brouweru. Color is odd, and the head is made of soapy bubbles. The aroma is intriguing and odd. Ground coffee with a slight hop aroma. The taste is actually pretty good. Coffee upfront, followed by almost intertwined hop character that seems to be unidentifiable due to the coffee. Decent bitterness as well. The coffee flavor is that of a drip coffee. Decently fresh. Mouthfeel is a tad more than a standard DIPA. Carbonation is pretty spot on. Overall, this is pretty decent. Not amazing, but certainly unique, and well made. Worth a try.

Oh, and for almost 11%, the alcohol is hardly noticeable. Very drinkable indeed. View Larger

CBS from Founders. Whale! Quite good. Coffee has faded, but still present. Maple syrup is definitely there, but the bourbon is more subtle at this point. I’m sure it was more present fresh. But overall, this is a great beer. Very well made. As far as booziness, I have NO idea what these fools are referring to. This is VERY drinkable. No alcohol burn at all. In your face? I think not. A homebrew given to me by a friend of mine in Chicago. It’s a Squash Saison with Brett. SUPER unfiltered. The color may be odd, but the taste is really quite interesting. Heavy Brett in the nose, with some squash to follow. Little spice, with some Saison funk. Taste is more squash upfront, with a huge Brett backing. Still some funk and spice in the finish. Carbed just right, with a great mouthfeel. I gotta say, I’m intrigued by it. Different, but pretty tasty. Thanks Jay! I look forward to the Barleywine next :) View Larger
